Travertine.

Travertine is a sedimentary rock formed by the deposition of calcium carbonate from hot springs. The most famous Roman temples and colonnades, the Colosseum among them, were built in Travertino Romano. Its characteristic fine pores give it a warm, uneven character that cannot be simulated.

Travertine is usually sealed with resin for outdoor use or left open in interiors. Either option is sound, depending on the effect you are after. It combines beautifully with wood and warm metal details; it is often our choice for pool surrounds, facades, benches and kitchen wall cladding.

Our catalogue offers the classic Italian travertines plus two decorative variants (Persian yellow and the dark Soraya). Samples stand in the showroom. They are best seen with light and touch.
